Love those crested saguaros!

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than planting Saguaros with Tucson Audubon Society? 🌵 Just this year, theyve planted an impressive 681 young Saguaros in the Tortolita Preserve, 410 in Tortolita Mountain Park and 34 more at the El Rio Preserve. Currently, theyre looking for 10 volunteers to join them on May 13 and 30 at the Wild Burro Trailhead from 9 -11 am to help to establish the next generation of our majestic desert giants. With its unique, spiky appearance, Yucca elata, or the soaptree yucca, can be found throughout the Southwest and into Northern Mexico. From flowers and leaves to the root, trunk and sap, every piece of the yucca has been used by native people to make soap, baskets, ropes, clothing and more. 🌸🪴 The Department of Forestry and Fire Management hosts a program called Arizonas Magnificent Trees, which spotlights the states largest, oldest and most important specimens. Update: Mattamy's grand opening, originally scheduled for this Saturday, has been postponed. We will keep you updated once the event has been rescheduled.

I'd consider moving up to Dove Mtn. But not until they provide a road out to the Marana Road exit.
