New Dove Mountain CSTEM School is Officially Open!
On Monday, August 5th, the shiny new doors of the Dove Mountain CSTEM K-8 School swung open to hundreds of excited new students and their families who were warmly welcomed by Principal Andrea Divijak, teachers and the staff to a first-of-its-kind learning environment.
The new school is located in the heart of the Dove Mountain community and offers a highly interactive and fun curriculum focusing on computer science, technology, engineering and math (CSTEM) to help students excel in a world where the mastery of CSTEM fundamentals assures greater success in school, college and future careers.
Beautiful Inside and Out
The school is architecturally stunning, colorful and airy, and the classrooms, labs and maker spaces are technology-rich. In addition, the views from almost every classroom are of gorgeous Sonoran Desert foothill landscapes, desert preserves and the majestic mountains on the horizon. It’s truly an inspiring environment for curious minds.
The school’s zSpace lab is an example of an immersive form of learning. In the lab, students will use transformational augmented and virtual reality technology tools to explore everything from the layers of our solar system and the functions of the human body, to the inner workings of a molecule.
A Full Array of Opportunities
Principal Divijak says the school is dedicated to providing a safe, secure and nurturing atmosphere that encourages students to collaborate with their peers and feel open to take chances with their learning.
The Dove Mountain CSTEM School, home of the Jaguars, will also feature full-day free kindergarten; gifted and special education; fine arts and music; health services; a full-time master-level counselor; physical education programs and athletics; and before- and after-school care.
We are so thrilled to have this amazing school at Dove Mountain and are excited for the new students and their families who will, no doubt, appreciate this 21st Century approach to K-8 education.
