Giving Back This Holiday Season
Dove Mountain developer Cottonwood Properties believes in supporting the local community. For years Cottonwood and its owners, the Mehl family, have supported the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona’s Marana Resource Center.
The Marana Resource Center was originally founded in the 1950s to provide emergency food assistance throughout the Marana and surrounding areas. In 2017, Cottonwood donated buildings that helped the center expand their services and evolve into what has become a model for other local branches of the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
Sustenance, Stability and Compassion
Since its expansion, the Resource Center has added diapers and pet food distribution alongside its food distribution and provides services like health screenings and medical equipment assistance. It also offers classes designed to bring greater stability and joy to those it serves.
Classes in gardening and money management are taught by volunteers at the center. The Arizona Veteran’s Work Force provides job & resume assistance and Pima Council on Aging provides a number of programs on premises.
Powerful Partners
The Marana Resource Center is also a crucial partner in the Marana Momentum Alliance (MMA) whose mission is to empower residents in need with opportunities and resources to build a bright future. The MMA programs focus on career and education, health and wellness, and veteran and senior services. This alliance also includes the Marana Schools 2340 Foundation, MHC Healthcare and the Town of Marana.
A Community with Heart
Many Dove Mountain residents volunteer and provide funds to the Marana Resource Center. An annual event at the Dove Mountain Park has raised over $40,000 to support the Resource Center. Cottonwood hosts an annual party to celebrate and honor the volunteers who donate their time to the Marana Resource Center at one of the stunning Dove Mountain model homes.
